Benefitfocus is looking for a qualified Technical Account Manager. Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills and professional experience in data interchange and data reconciliation. This position will work with the eExchange team to receive, interpret, translate and transmit daily benefits enrollment and eligibility data to our world-class clients. Benefitfocus eExchange simplifies the transmission and transformation of employee benefit and eligibility data from employer to insurance carrier.


The Technical Account Manager will work with each individual client throughout the data exchange process. This will include internal and external communication with Benefitfocus Engineering teams, Data Analysts and Benefitfocus carrier partners. During the data exchange process, the Technical Account Manager will have to handle data file transmissions, test, interpret and read data in different formats for client dissemination.


The ideal candidate will be technically savvy; he/she must be able to interpret and understand technical terminology and data file formats. Excellent spreadsheet, database and analytical skills are required to be a top performer in this role.


This person will enjoy both working with data (interpreting, analyzing and understanding) and supporting Benefitfocus Carrier partners via conference calls and email communications. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to be a part of a dynamic growing team.

Experience and Skills:
  • BA/BS degree
  • At least two years experience in an analytical role that includes interpreting large amounts of data
  • Must effectively communicate information and respond to technical issues as they arise with clients throughout data exchange
  • A love for research, data manipulation or numbers is a must
  • Proven ability to work under deadlines in a professional and fast paced team environment
  • Ability to learn proprietary software applications quickly
  • Advanced skills in database systems; Including Access, Oracle, SAS and SQL
  • Experience in converting data file formats
  • Experience with data modeling/mapping
